Jodhpur, 21 September 2026: National Law University, Jodhpur (NLUJ), in collaboration with the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Government of India, is organising a five-day training programme on “Governance, Accountability & Ethical Oversight for Public Administration” from 21 to 25 September 2026.
The objective of this training programme is to develop a comprehensive understanding of the principles of good governance, accountability, transparency, ethics and effective oversight in public administration and to promote meaningful deliberations on contemporary issues and challenges related to administrative functioning.
The inaugural session of the programme was held today at National Law University, Jodhpur. Prof. (Dr.) Harpreet Kaur, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, National Law University, Jodhpur, delivered the Presidential Address. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor emphasised the significance of effective governance and the increasing role of various stakeholders in ensuring better administration. She stated that governance becomes more effective and outcome-oriented when all stakeholders associated with it clearly understand and fulfil their accountability, responsibilities and ethical obligations.
The inaugural session featured a Special Address by the Chief Guest, Dr. M. S. Sahoo, Former Chairperson, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI). Drawing upon his extensive administrative and regulatory experience, he shared his insights on important aspects of good governance, accountability, institutional functioning and ethical oversight in public institutions.
The session commenced with the Welcome Address by Dr. Sunita Pankaj, Registrar, National Law University, Jodhpur. She welcomed all the dignitaries and participants and highlighted the importance of ethics, accountability and institutional transparency in public administration.
On the first day of the training programme, three technical sessions were organised on corporate governance, regulatory architecture and institutional failures. Dr. M. S. Sahoo, Former Chairperson, IBBI, addressed the session on “Evolution of Corporate Governance in Public Administration”, highlighting the importance of transparency, accountability, fairness, responsibility and ethical governance.
Dr. Ruth Vaiphei and Mr. Aditya Baheti addressed the session on “Regulatory Architecture of Corporate Governance”, discussing the regulatory framework of corporate governance and the role of effective regulation.
Ms. Ashita Mittal, Former UNODC Regional Representative, addressed the session on “Governance Failures and Institutional Consequences”, highlighting the impact of governance failures and the importance of accountability and effective oversight.
The upcoming sessions of the programme will feature expert-led deliberations on important subjects including good governance, accountability, ethical decision-making and institutional oversight.
