On 1 August 2026, National Law University, Jodhpur (NLUJ), through its Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Centre for Constitutional Law & Administrative Law (CCAL), organized a one-day Symposium on the theme "Comparative Legislative Processes: United States Congress and Indian Parliament," in collaboration with the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF).
The Symposium brought together eminent scholars and practitioners to discuss various facets of constitutional law. The Inaugural Address was delivered by Prof. Paul Koster, Professor of Practice at Emory Law School, USA, and currently Fulbright Specialist at NLUJ. Prof. Niraj Kumar (NLU Delhi) and Prof. Manwendra Tiwari (CNLU Patna) were among the distinguished experts invited to evaluate the scholars' work and share their insights.
The Symposium also featured a panel discussion on "What Sustains Public Confidence in Legislatures?" The panel was led by Prof. Koster, Prof. Kumar, Prof. Tiwari, and Dr.Sayantani Bagchi, Faculty In-Charge, CCAL, and was moderated by Dr. Rashmi Mathur, Dean, IQAC. The discussion offered nuanced perspectives on legislative functioning, judicial pronouncements, and public perceptions of the legislature, with an emphasis on enhancing public confidence and ensuring more productive, time-bound legislative outcomes.
The paper presentations at the Symposium were diverse in scope and methodology. The Best Paper Award was presented to Mr. Nachiket & Mr. Prabhav, with the Second Prize awarded to Dr. Umang & Ms. Saanvi.
