National Law University, Jodhpur successfully organised a three-day Faculty Development Programme titled “Advancing Legal Education and Institutional Responsibility: Assessment Design, Legal Writing and POSH Compliance” on 17th- 20th July 2026. The programme was designed under the guidance of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Harpreet Kaur to strengthen institutional and professional capacities in the areas of assessment and evaluation, academic legal writing, research methodology, and prevention of sexual harassment at the workplace. It was attended by faculty members, academic fellows, research scholars, administrative officers and staff members of the University.
The first day of the programme was devoted to “Assessment and Evaluation 2.0: Outcome Mapping, Question Paper Setting and Evaluation Reform in Legal Education.” The sessions were conducted by Prof. S. P. Ketkar, Former Professor, Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, New Delhi. He addressed question paper setting and quality assurance, and the use of assessment data for academic improvement and accreditation. The final session focused on quantitative analysis for legal and interdisciplinary research. The discussions emphasized on the alignment of assessment methods with course and programme outcomes.
The second day focused on POSH compliance in educational institutions and the creation of safe academic spaces. The sessions were conducted by Dr. Manoj Wagh, POSH Trainer, Pune. He discussed the preventive, procedural and remedial responsibilities of educational institutions under the POSH framework and highlighted the collective responsibility of faculty and administrative staff in ensuring a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace. A specialized interaction was also held with members of the Internal Committee on complaint handling, inquiry procedures and documentation.
The final day was conducted by Prof. (Dr.) Paul Koster, Emory University School of Law, USA. He is Fullbright Specialist at the NLUJ. His sessions focused on publishing legal scholarship in United States law journals, effective academic legal writing, and pedagogical strategies for teaching legal writing in law schools.
The programme was formally concluded by Dr. Varsha Singh, Coordinator of the Faculty Development Programme, who expressed her gratitude to the resource persons, participants, and all those involved in its organisations. She observed that the three-day programme reaffirmed NLU Jodhpur’s commitment to continuous faculty development, academic excellence, and the creation of an inclusive university environment.
