Three Bright Gems Will Forever Live in the Memories of NLU Jodhpur – University Family Pays Heartfelt Tribute

The National Law University, Jodhpur family gathered today in a deeply emotional atmosphere to pay tribute on the first death anniversary of three of its promising students – Ms. Aarushi Gupta (III Year), Mr. Aarav Midha (II Year), and Mr. V. Harshit (I Year). The three students tragically lost their lives in a bus accident on 11 March 2025 at around 5:25 AM near Deh village on the Nagaur–Ladnun National Highway-58, under the Surpaliya Police Station area. The unfortunate accident occurred when some students of NLU Jodhpur were returning to the University after participating in a sports tournament held in Patiala.

At the time of the unfortunate incident, local residents immediately displayed exemplary humanitarian concern. Mr. Hanuman Ji, who runs a roadside shop, was the first to extend immediate assistance. Subsequently, Mr. R.P. Siyaram, Station House Officer of Surpaliya Police Station, took swift action and ensured that the students were rushed to JLN Hospital, Nagaur, where Dr. Mahesh Panwar, Principal Medical Officer at JLN Hospital, Nagaur, arranged for immediate medical care. During this time, Dr. Praveen Bishnoi (father of Mr. Lokesh Bishnoi, an alumnus of NLU Jodhpur) also extended prompt assistance and support, demonstrating remarkable compassion. During this difficult time, Mr. Arun Kumar Purohit, IAS, the then District Collector of Nagaur, and Mr. Sumit Kumar, Additional Superintendent of Police, Nagaur, ensured all possible administrative support. Ms. Mithu Bothra, Nagaur Municipal Council, also extended necessary assistance.

The NLU Jodhpur family also expressed its sincere gratitude to the distinguished dignitaries who were present at the memorial ceremony at the University’s request, including Dr. Govardhan Dutt Puri, Executive Director, AIIMS Jodhpur; Mr. Arun Kumar Purohit, IAS, Former District Collector, Nagaur; Dr. Sushmana Harsh (Representative of the Principal Medical Officer); and Mr. Hanuman Ji.

On this occasion, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Harpreet Kaur, paid heartfelt tribute to the departed students and stated that these three bright gems of the NLU Jodhpur family will forever remain alive in the memories and inspiration of the University community. She noted that their bright personalities and the dreams they carried will continue to inspire generations of students. She also referred to the guidelines issued for upcoming sports events under “Yuvardha (Sports Competition)” and mentioned the commemorative trophies instituted in the memory of the departed students — Aarushi Gupta Yuvardha Basketball Trophy, Aarav Midha Yuvardha Football Trophy, and V. Harshit Yuvardha Cricket Trophy.

Dr. Govardhan Dutt Puri, Executive Director, AIIMS Jodhpur, shared his experience of the incident and stated that the tragedy conveyed an important life lesson — that people must appreciate one another and come forward to help each other in difficult times. He emphasized that such compassion would be the true tribute to these three young minds. Mr. Arun Kumar Purohit, IAS, Former District Collector, Nagaur, also shared how he received the call from the NLU Jodhpur administration regarding the incident and how the district administration immediately mobilized to manage the situation. He also paid heartfelt tribute to the departed students.

On this occasion, memorial plaques dedicated to the three departed students were also unveiled. Their classmates gathered at the basketball court, lit candles, and paid tribute while recalling the cherished moments they had shared with their beloved friends.
