On 1st May 2025, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between National Law University, Jodhpur (NLUJ) and Durham University, UK, marking a significant step towards international academic collaboration. The MoU aims to promote joint research initiatives, faculty and student exchanges, and the development of specialised training programs to enhance legal education and professional growth.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Harpreet Kaur, Vice Chancellor, NLUJ and Prof. Bruce Wardhaugh, Professor of Law, Durham University, UK.
Prof. Kaur highlighted NLUJ’s commitment to excellence in legal education and its growing network of global partnerships. She expressed confidence that this collaboration with Durham University, a world-renowned institution, would provide unparalleled opportunities for students and faculty alike. “This MoU is a unique one as it not only focuses on student and faculty exchange but work towards cultural, educational and research based collaboration between the two prominent Universities. This MoU will enable us to create tailored academic programs, promote cross-cultural learning, and advance cutting-edge research in law and related disciplines,” she said.
Prof. Bruce Wardhaugh shared his enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasising the shared vision of both institutions to deliver high-quality, need-based education. “Durham University is delighted to collaborate with NLUJ, an institution known for its academic rigor and innovation. Together, we will work towards creating impactful learning experiences and global legal scholarship,” he remarked.
Dr. Sunita Pankaj, RAS, Registrar, NLUJ, discussed the practical aspects of the collaboration, including the modes of training and exchange programs to ensure active engagement of participants. She extended gratitude to Prof. Wardhaugh from Durham University for his visit and insightful discussions.
The event was attended by deans, faculty, and staff members of NLUJ. The program was coordinated by Dr. Rashmi Mathur and Dr. Neeti Mathur.
