Awareness programme on ‘Drug Free Campus’ on April 7, 2025 at the NLUJ Auditorium

The Student Welfare Board of National Law University, Jodhpur, organized a sensitization program on April 7, 2025, centered on the theme "Drug-Free Campus." The event aimed to raise awareness about the prohibition, use, sale, and possession of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances under the NDPS Act. It formed part of a broader initiative to educate youth on the growing threat of drug abuse and to promote a healthy, disciplined, and responsible lifestyle among students. Shri Ghanasyam Soni, IRS (CBIC), Zonal Director, Jodhpur & Jaipur (Rajasthan), addressed the gathering, shedding light on commonly found drugs in urban and semi-urban settings and their harmful short- and long-term effects on physical health, mental well-being, academic performance, and social life. He also emphasized the legal repercussions of drug possession and trafficking, warning how such involvement can derail young lives and careers. Shri Soni urged students to become ambassadors of change and contribute to creating a drug-free and productive campus environment. The program featured expert sessions by healthcare professionals and law enforcement officers, who discussed the physical, psychological, and legal consequences of drug abuse. Students actively engaged in the interactive discussions and took a collective pledge to support the cause. The initiative highlighted the pivotal role of youth in fostering a responsible society and promoted peer support as a key strategy to address drug-related issues.

The guests were felicitated by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Harpreet Kaur and Registrar Dr. Sunita Pankaj. The program was coordinated by Dr. Manisha Mirdha, Dean Students’ Welfare, with the support of Dr. Pran Banjara and Dr. Gagandeep Kaur.  Overall, the program marked a significant step toward nurturing a safe, aware, and supportive campus community.
