The XVI NLU Antitrust Law Moot Court Competition, 2025, organized by National Law University, Jodhpur, in collaboration with the Competition Commission of India and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas was held from March 28 to 30, 2025. Recognized as India’s premier moot court event focused on competition law, the competition provided a platform for rigorous legal debate and advocacy, attracting participation from law students across the country.
The inauguration ceremony marked the formal commencement of the competition, with Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Harpreet Kaur presiding over the event. The ceremony was further graced by Mr. Augustine Peter, Former Member of the Competition Commission of India, who attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest and delivered an insightful address on the evolving role of competition law in modern economies. Dr. Siddharth Balani, Chairperson of the Moot Court Committee, welcomed the participants, emphasizing the intellectual rigor and learning opportunities the competition offered.
The competition brought together over 36 teams from prestigious law schools across India, offering them a unique platform to hone their legal research, drafting, and courtroom advocacy skills. The three-day event showcased the brightest young legal minds, who competed in a simulated court environment. The teams competed for prestigious awards, including Best Team, Best Memoranda, and Best Student Advocate. Throughout the three-day event, participants presented arguments before a distinguished panel of judges, demonstrating their skills in legal research, advocacy, and analytical reasoning. The competition upheld its tradition of academic excellence, fostering a deeper understanding of antitrust law and competition regulations.
National Law School of India University, Bangalore (NLSIU) emerged as the winning team of the competition, while the Runners-up team was Jindal Global Law School, Sonipat (JGLS). Moreover, the award for Best Memoranda was won by National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata (NUJS). The students of National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata (NUJS) also won the prize of Best Student Advocate and Second-Best Student Advocate, awarded to Shirin Hossain and Adiyanth Ravinchandran, respectively. Lastly, the Best Student Advocate of the Finals was awarded to Vikram Raj Nanda from National Law School of India University, Bangalore (NLSIU).
Significantly, the XVI edition of the competition was dedicated to the memory of our beloved students - Ms. Aarushi Gupta, Mr. Aarav Midha, and Mr. V. Harshith—who tragically lost their lives recently. The competition served as a tribute to their enduring spirit and contributions to the University and the NLUJ Family.
