MoU signed with the International Institute of Water (Asia)Jodhpur

On September 23, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the National Law University, Jodhpur (NLUJ) and International Institute of Water (Asia), Jodhpur.

Professor Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Vice-Chancellor of NLUJ, said that this MoU will promote cooperation in education, research, and capacity building in the field of environmental law, water conservation, and natural resource management. Professor Kaur said that she strongly believes in protection of the environment and sustainable development of the ecosystem. She further added that the faculty members and the students are the torch-bearers of leading the mission for promotion of research and awareness drives related to water conservation. She emphasised on the importance of formulation of laws on water conservation, access to clean water, rain-water harvesting and other mechanisms not only for the city of Jodhpur, but the entire state of Rajasthan.

The MoU will also provide faculty, students, and researchers from the two institutions with the opportunity to conduct research on various water conservation and environmental and sustainability related topics. The programme was graced by the officials of IIW (Asia) including Dr. Ashutosh Tiwari - Global President, IIW; Dr. Rajendra Singh “Waterman of India” - Member, Governing Council, IIW; Dr. Rajendra Kumar Tiwari, I.A.S. - Chairman, Policy & Governance Council, IIW; Prof. Debashish Chakraborty - Member, Executive Committee, IIW (Asia); Dr. Stephen Hinton - Global Advisor, IIW; Prof. Vandana Singh, Vice Chancellor, Purvanchal University and Member of Executive Committee, IIW (Asia); Dr. Ashutosh Shukla - Assistant Director, IIW Jodhpur Campus; Dr. Ayushi Tiwari - Global Public Health Advisor, IIW; Dr. Akhilesh - Assistant Director , IIW, Prayagraj Campus; and Dr. Prashant - Faculty, IIW Jodhpur.

Dr. Ashutosh Tiwari, Global President of IIW (Asia), Jodhpur, briefed NLUJ faculty and staff about the programs already conducted by IIW (Asia) and the future research- related symposium and research-based programs that the institute is going to hold in the future. He was confident that with this MoU with NLUJ, the two institutions of prominence can add value to water conservation and water management-related issues that the city and the world is facing in general.

The program was attended by faculty members of NLUJ and scientists and officials from IIW (Aisa). The program was coordinated by Registrar-in-charge, Mr. Ankit Singhal, and Deputy Registrar Mr. Dinesh Malik, Dr. Neeti Mathur, Dr. Sucheta Boora and students’ team- Alka Nanda Mahapatra, Harshita Baswana, Rijul Rajan, and Vrinda Gupta. The programme was followed by a plantation drive at the NLUJ Campus.
