- The 1st CARTAL Conference on International Arbitration 2016
On October 15-16, 2016, Indian Journal of Arbitration Law and the Centre for Advanced Research and Training in Arbitration Law organized an international conference on arbitration, themed "Arbitration at Crossroads", in association with Baker & McKenzie. The Conference was institutionally supported by ICC, SIAC, HKIAC, MCIA and CIArb. The Society of Indian Law Firms was the principal sponsor. The Conference consisted of four panel discussions and was held at the National Law University, Jodhpur in India.
The theme of the Conference alluded to the critical stage which the law and practice of arbitration is at, both domestically in India, as well as in international dispute resolution. The aim of the Conference was to act as a platform for both prominent practitioners and academicians to analyse some of the most contemporary issues and help chalk out a potential roadmap to navigate through them.

- National Seminar on Forthcoming Feminisms: Gender Activism in Law, Literature & Society :
The Centre for Gender Studies organized a National Seminar
on 8-9 February, 2014 on the theme of Forthcoming Feminisms: Gender
Activism in Law, Literature & Society. The seminar witnessed
enthusiastic participation by faculty and students from 31 institutions
all over the country. Besides the parallel paper presentations, there
were 5 Plenary lectures on notable topics ranging from amendment in
rape laws to skewed property and inheritance laws to right to work for
dance bar girls to patriarchal suppression in literature. Madam Indira
Jaising, Additional Solicitor General of India delivered the
Presidential Address during the seminar. The heterogeneous presentations
helped gain a geographical understanding of gender with respect to
regionalism, a bio-legal understanding with respect to reproductive
rights and duties, a literary insight into gender sensitization, a
legalistic view into the travesty of gender and innovative
understanding on the science behind gender predilections.
- Collaborative National Workshop on Science, Technology, Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights:
The Centre for IP Studies organized a one day
collaborative National Workshop on Science, Technology, Innovation and
Intellectual Property Rights in collaboration with Central Arid Zone
Research, (CAZRI), Jodhpur on 10th January 2014. Executive Director and
members of the center delivered lectures as resource persons in this
workshop. They deliberated on Interface between Science & Law,
Patent Information System and IP management, Judicial and
socio-cultural problems on the definition of law concerning property,
usage and access to genetic resources and Agricultural innovation in IP
framework with Farmers' needs - looking ahead. Approximately 100
participants attended the workshop.
- Collaborative International Conference on
“Professionalism in Victim Assistance Programmes: Role of Social
Workers, Psychologists, Judiciary, Government and NGOs” :
National Law University, Jodhpur and O.P. Jindal Global
University, Sonipat (Haryana) jointly organized the First International
Conference on “Professionalism in Victim Assistance Programmes: Role of
Social Workers, Psychologists, Judiciary, Government and NGOs” on 22nd
and 23rd February 2013 at O.P. Jindal Global University, Sonipat
(Haryana).
- Continuing Legal Education Programme – CLEP 2013
The 11th Continuing Legal Education Programme- 2013 was
organized under the joint auspice of National Law University, Jodhpur
and Bar Council of Rajasthan from 21st December to 25th December 2013.
During these five days of CLEP the academic exposure to legal aspects
was given by faculty members not only from National Law University,
Jodhpur but faculties from Delhi and Mumbai were also invited to make
this learning endeavor a great experience for the participants. The
varied themes of the lectures included- Constitutional Law, Health
Laws, RTI, Competition Law, Criminal Law Amendments, Criminal
Psychology, Trade Law, Motor Vehicles Claims, Writ Law and Procedures,
Intellectual Property Rights, and Evidentiary value of Forensic
Science.
- One day workshop on ‘IP Litigation’ :
One day workshop on ‘IP Litigation’ was organized by MHRD
Chair on IPR and Center for IP Studies on 5th October 2013. The
objective of this workshop was to enhance the knowledge of
undergraduate and post-graduate IPR students by addressing the legal
and practical perspectives of IP litigation in India to deal with the
challenges nationally and internationally. Resource persons, Ms. Richa
Pandey, Advocate & Partner, Krishna & Saurastri Associates
delivered a lecture on ‘Challenges and Current position of Patent
litigation in India’ and Ms. Anusuya Nigam, Associate, Singh &
Singh delivered a lecture on ‘Challenges and Current position of
Trademark litigation in India’.
- One day Conference on ‘Impact of IPR on Access to Medicine’ :
One day Conference on ‘Impact of IPR on Access to
Medicine’ was organized by MHRD Chair on IPR in collaboration with
“Indian Council of Medical Research” (ICMR) on 22nd February, 2014.
Resource persons for the conference included renowned IP specialists
and practitioners such as Dr. K. Satyanarayana and Dr. Sadhana
Srivastava, of ICMR , Dr. Swati Bal Tembe, Former Vice-President,
Piramal Healthcare Ltd, Miss Leena Menghaney, Campaign Coordinator,
Medecins Sans Frontieres [MSF] International, Dr. Navneet S. Tewatia,
Progamme Office, United Nation Office, Delhi , Mr. Tahir A. Siddiqui, a
practicing advocate in the Delhi High Court and Dr Gopakumar Nair.

Camp for the Intellectuals, Industrialists and Scientists organized by
Department of Science & Technology at JNV University, Jodhpur, on
27th March 2014.
- Mainstream Human Rights Lawyering Programme
NLUJ in collaboration with National Law School of India
University, Bangalore and Ford Foundation is organizing mainstream
human rights lawyering program for students of various law
colleges/universities of the country from 18th May to 18th June, 2014
with participation by 48 students from colleges/universities across the
country. The threefold objective of the programme is to impart
knowledge, equip the participants with essential skills, and develop
and sensitize the participants on the correct approach to human rights
lawyering. |
