The Centre for Advanced Research and
Training in Arbitration Law (CARTAL) takes immense pride in announcing that Dr.
Petra Butler shall be discussing her findings of the Commonwealth Secretariat
Study on challenges to accessing international commercial arbitration at
National Law University, Jodhpur on 10th February, 2020.
Dr. Petra Butler is a Professor at the
Victoria University of Wellington, Co-Director of the Centre for Small States,
and the Visiting Professor of Queen Mary University of London. Dr. Butler is
New Zealandís CLOUT (Case Law on UNCITRAL Texts) correspondent for the CISG and
the United Nations Convention on the Use of Electronic Communications in
Dr. Butler is a part of the Commonwealth
International Arbitration Study Group along with Mr. Gary Born, Mr. Robert
Griffiths QC, Mr. Audley Sheppard QC and Ms.FunkeAdekoya. The Study aims to
understand the use of international commercial arbitration in addressing
commercial disputes across the Commonwealth, as well as ways in which member
countries may strengthen the accessibility and effectiveness of international
commercial arbitration. Dr. Butler shall be discussing the results of the Study
at National Law University, Jodhpur which shall be one of the first venues where
the results of the Study shall be made public.
