The University congratulates Mr. Shaurya Bhandari (Class of 2022) on selection and completion of the ‘Youth Assembly’ organized by FAF in collaboration with United Nations. The event took place in the month of February and focused on Sustainable development goals as well as detailed study of Public Institutions. The delegates also worked on solutions to eradicate poverty, providing education to economically weaker sections of the society, as well as providing access to clean drinking water across the planet.
As a delegate, Shaurya represented India at the United Nations as well as the Permanent mission of Japan to the United Nations, interacting and working with H.E. Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister of foreign affairs of Japan on issues of Child abuse and ‘Chiba case’, as well as provisions of the Japanese Constitution. He also met and interacted with World Bank officials, and discussed with them in great detail, issues pertaining to transparency through lending of loans, relevancy of World Bank in today’s world, as well as positions of shareholders. The delegates were also briefed by H.E Ms. Simona-Mirela Miculescu, Representative of the UN Secretary General, as well as Mr. Satya S. Tripathi, Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations. The assembly culminated with leaders pledging to work together on crucial issues of Climate change and maintaining efficacy of Public institutions.
The rigorous selection procedure involved a series of writeups and interviews.The Assembly saw leaders from all across the world consisting of Diplomats, activists, young leaders and lawyers, making it a learning experience, in addition to a great opportunity for social and cultural exchange.
