NLUJ student represented India at the Israeli Parliament (Knesset)

The University congratulates Mr. Shaurya Bhandari, (Class of 2022) on selection and completion of the “World Governance Expedition” organized by VIF in collaboration with the Government of Israel. The programme took place in the month of October and focused on policy formulation as well as a detailed study of the administrative structures of the country.

As a delegate, Shaurya represented India at the Israeli Parliament (Knesset) as well the Supreme Court, interacting and working with Politicians, Judges and other government officials. He undertook a detailed study of the education system and the startup culture in Israel, focusing on growth of startups and entrepreneurial mechanisms, exploring possibilities of their applicability in India. He actively worked with Human Rights Activists, visiting and documenting the Gaza strip during the expedition. The delegation also paid tribute to the martyred Indian Soldiers at the Haifa Cemetery, as well as victims of the Nazi Holocaust at the YadVashem museum at Jerusalem.

The rigorous selection procedure involved a series of write-ups and interviews and active engagement with the Israeli embassy. The programme saw leaders from all across the nation consisting of politicians, advocates, bureaucrats and members of think tanks, making it a learning experience, in addition to a great opportunity for cultural exchange.
