Legal Aid and Awareness Committee, National Law University, Jodhpur with the help of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) organized its first presentation on the topic of Right to Privacy as a part of National University Skill Development Programme. The programme was organised on July 10, 2017 by the University.The presentation was attended by the Registrar of the University Mr. SohanLal Sharma, Dean of the University Prof. I.P. Massey, Chairperson of the Legal Aid and Awareness Committee Dr. Anjali Thanvi, TISS Representatives and teachers of other Colleges in Jodhpur.

The introductory remark by Prof. I.P. Massey emphasised on the importance of legal education and how it is important for all the people to know about their legal rights. The Presentation titled ‘Do you Know: Who is watching you” was attended by about 210 students from various colleges in Jodhpur. The youth of Today’s world is at the highest risk of shelling out their private information online due to the vast connectivity with the help of social media. The students were made aware of the gamble played online which leads to private information like gallery, messages etc. being leaked online.

The Presentation was delivered by Ragini Aggarwal, Keshavmalpani and members of Legal Aid and Awareness Committee with the aim of providing the students with information about the risk they are prone to face while browsing online.

The session pointed towards spreading awareness about the right to privacy and how can people protect their private life by being cautious and understanding the risks that come with the use of social media. The interactive session included the students clarifying their doubts about online browsing and how they can protect themselves from scams and frauds. The presentation also aimed to provide the students with various means to protect their information from being circulated and the minor steps they can take to protect themselves. The Impact of the entire presentation was that the students learnt about the importance to keep their personal data safe and not to trust online watch guardians.
Dr. Anjali Thanvi concluded the programme with a vote of thanks. TISS representative was honoured with a momento by Registrar Mr. SohanLal Sharma.
