Invitation to contribute to moot court fund

National Law University, Jodhpur has recently established a dedicated fund to enable meritorious students to participate in international moot court competitions. This fund is utilized to defray the expenses incurred by the students while competing at prestigious moot court competitions organized in foreign countries.

One of the foremost law varsities in the country, NLU Jodhpur has consistently acknowledged the importance of mooting as a critical component of legal education. In fact, mooting forms an important part of the University curriculum. The Moot Court Committee semi-annually conducts an intra-university moot to select the most outstanding students to represent the University at various moot court competitions. Due to the University’s encouragement and our students’ diligence, NLU Jodhpur has witnessed a consistent and upward movement in its performance at national as well as international moot court competitions. In recognition of our students’ achievements, NLU Jodhpur was crowned as the winner of the last Mooting Premier League (2014-15) organized by Legally India in association with Herbert Smith Freehills, confirming the University’s mooting performance as superior to all other law universities in the country.

Participation in moot court competitions not only offers students the opportunity to hone essential skills such as problem solving, legal analysis, drafting legal submissions and public speaking, but also develops the single most important weaponry in a lawyer’s arsenal – the ability to articulate one’s thoughts and arguments, condensing distinct, often conflicting legal authorities, into concise and persuasive arguments. Unfortunately, due to the prohibitive nature of expenses involved, many capable yet financially weak students are deprived of this opportunity. For this reason, the University has constituted a fund to cover all expenses incurred by students during such moot court competitions. The Moot Court Committee has already formulated a framework for utilization of the monies collected in the fund.

Kindly consider this notice of information as an invitation to contribute to this fund so as to ensure that financial reasons do not hinder the development of the meritorious students of the University. The University shall apprise the contributors of the details of disbursement of the fund from time to time. We would also be willing to share the relevant documentation for acknowledgement and obtaining tax exemptions.
