The prime objectives of this centre is to develop laws relating to agriculture and securing the interest of Farmers by development and identification of legal instruments . This centre establishes a synergy of legal study and research with Agricultural Science study. The Centre has recommended incorporation of changes in the existing Agricultural Produce Marketing Acts for paving facilities for contract farming in India. This recommendation has been well accepted by the Government to bring in necessary changes in the existing APMC Acts.
The Centre aims to visualize and create legal instruments to develop, boost and proliferate agricultural produce marketing in India. CSAL is also engaged in designing the modalities to safeguard Indian agricultural interests in international trade and better farmers right at the domestic level in the realm of WTO governed system. Presently this Center is working on the development of ‘Secondary Agricultural Produce Marketing Bill’ a draft of which has already been deliberated and discussed.
