The Regional Economic Groupings is a phenomenon, which dates back to 1956 with the establishment of European Coal and Steel Company. Later on European Economic Commission, NAFTA, ASEAN, SAARC etc. have given flip to other countries especially the developing countries to develop regional groupings or Free Trade Areas. The international legal dynamics of these Free Trade Areas have created a great stir as international trade is being subjected to regimentation and block politics. India is also in pursuit of developing a trade arrangement by means of such regional grouping. Legal framework for all such endeavors needs a microscopic analysis. Therefore, the Centre for Regional Economic Grouping is conceived to understand and underpin the dynamics and future strategies and other methods so as to poise the economic interests within a legal framework of India.
