Student's Initiatives

The students took various initiatives to sharpen their professional skills such as paper presentation and participation in national and inter national moot court competitions.

Winners - International Moot Court Competitions

  • Kunal Mehta (’08) and Abhishek Thanvi (’07) won the All India Student’s Chapter International Moot Court Competition, 2006 organised by the Christian Legal Association of India in collaboration with Handong University, Korea. 
  • Reshma Khan (’08), Riddhi Sancheti (’09), Anil Raj (’07), Kunal Mehta (’08) & Gaurav Solanki (’07) won the 2 nd Sussan J. Ferrell Intercultural Human Rights Moot Court Competition, 2007 organised by the St. Thomas University, Miami (USA) 

Represented India in International Competitions

  • Aritra Roy ('13), Meghana Sharafudeen (’11), Akansha Dubey (’13), Geetanjali Sharma (’13) and Gautam Khazanchi (’11) reached the “Round of 32” at the 18th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, Vienna, 2011.
  • Manu Thadikkaran (’13), Aayushi Sharma (’12) and Neha Reddy (’13) were ranked “Ninth” overall in the international rounds of the 4th Monroe E. Price International Media Law Moot Court Competition, 2011 organized by the University of Oxford, UK.
  • Vaibhav Kakkar (’06), Atul Sharma (’06) & Varun Sehgal (’06) represented India at the Australasian Rounds at Sydney, Australia of the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition, 2004. 
  • Sameer Sah (’07), Atreya Bhattacharya (’08), Atul Sharma (’06), Anand Varma (’08) & Arvind Lakhawat (’08) represented India at the Shearman & Sterling International Rounds of the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, 2006 at Washington D.C. 
  • Kartikeya Saran (’09), Joydeep Sarkar (’09) & Nupur Kabra (’08) represented India at the 19 th Jean Pictet International Humanitarian Law Pleadings Competition at El Escorial, Spain
  • P. Shreyas Reddy (’07), Atreya Bhattacharya (’08), T. Sundar Ramanathan (’07), Anand Varma (’08) & Adarsh Ramanujan (’09) represented India and secured 18 th rank at the Shearman & Sterling International Rounds of the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, 2007 at Washington D.C. 
  • The team from NLU, Jodhpur represented by Giriraj Subramanium ('010), Manini Brar ('010), Yakshay Chheda ('010), Siddharth Saxena ('010) & Surya Binoy ('009) was one of the only two Indian teams to have made it to the top 16 amongst over 120 Law Schools worldwide at the Shearman and Sterling Rounds of the 50th Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, 2009 held at Washington D.C. We finished at the eleventh position overall.
  • Raghav Dhavan ('010) , Harsh Hari Haran ('010), Kanishth Ganeriwala ('010) , Anirudh Kapoor ('012) and Rukmani Seth ('012) stood runners up at the Susan J. Ferrell Intercultural Human Rights Moot Court Competition, Miami, 2009.
  • Pranay Bagdi ('012), Pranav Atit ('012), Meherunnisa Anand ('012), Aditi Patanjali ('011) and Nishant Kumar ('011) received the Sarah Derrington Achievement for their exceptional performance at the Queensland Maritime Arbitration Moot held at Brisbane, Australia in July, 2009.
  • Bhuvnesh Satija ('011), Vidya Chandrasekhar ('011), Ambiecka Pandit ('011), Aditya Mehra ('010) and Shruthi Nag ('011) bagged the 5th position overall at the Frankfurt International Investment Law Arbitration Moot held at Frankfurt, Germany in October, 2009.
  • Snigdhaneel Satpathy ('011), Sindhu Vasudev ('011), Vinay Subramanian ('011), Ashish Virmani ('011) and Vatsal Gaur ('011) were declared the 'Best Victims Counsel' at the 3rd ICC Trial Moot Court Competition held at The Hague in February, 2010. The team secured the 6th position overall.

  • Aritra Roy (’13), Lakshmi Neelakantan (’13) and Jai Sahai Endlaw won the Surana and Surana North India Rounds of the Stetson International Environment Law Moot Court Competition, 2012 held at NLIU, Bhopal in November, 2011 and qualified for the International Rounds to be held in Florida, USA in March, 2011.
  • Vishal Sagar (’14), Mannem Aamani (’13) and Roshni Namboodary (’13) won the Justice Hidayatullah Memorial National Moot Court Competition held at HNLU, Raipur in October 2011.
  • Prianka Mohan (’13), Shreya Munoth (’13) and Alokita Basu (’12) won the International Infrastructure and Construction Law Arbitration Moot, 2011 held at NLU, Delhi in September 2011.
  • SNC Sastry (’13), Kevin S. Peter and Vidushi Gupta (’11) won the Surana and Surana National Corporate Law Moot Court Competition 2011, held at JSS Law College, Mysore in February 2011.
  • Angira Singhvi (’08), Sonakshi Jha (’09) & Kashish Bhatia (’09) won the J.C. Chauhan College of Law Moot Court Competition, 2005 organised by the J.C. Chauhan College of Law, Mumbai. 
  • Trideep Raj Bhandari (’08), Neha Priya (’08) & Madhumita Sheshadri (’09) won the Justice P.N. Bhagwati Memorial Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition, 2005 organised by National Law School of India University, Bangalore. 
  • Nidhi Parakh (’07), Aditya Bhargav (’08) & Anamika Shripat (’07) won the NUJS Corporate Law Moot Court Competition, 2006 organised by the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata. 
  • Parnika Chautrvedi (’10), Shikha Bhargav (’09) and Vinati Gupta (’10) won the Manikchand Pahade Law College National Moot Court Competition, 2006 organised by Manikchand Pahade Law College, Aurangabad. 
  • Archana Lakhotia (’08), Nupur Kabra (’08) and Tresa CJ (’09) won the National Indraprastha University Moot Court Competition, 2006 conducted by the School of Legal Studies, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi. 
  • Rahul Bhandari (’10), Yakshay Cheda (’10) & Chanakya Saran Hazarika (’08) won the won the J.C. Chauhan College of Law Moot Court Competition, 2006 organised by the J.C. Chauhan College of Law, Mumbai.

  • Kartikey Mahajan ('011), Meha Rashmi ('011), Aman ('012), Silpa Nair ('011) and Soumya Patnaik ('011) won the Surana and Surana North India Rounds of the Stetson International Environment Law Moot Court Competition, 2010 held at NLIU, Bhopal in November, 2009 and qualified for the International Rounds to be held in Florida, USA in March, 2010.
  • Sannoy Das ('011), Ambika Gupta ('012), Aman ('012), Arpita Sarkar ('011) and Manu Sanan ('011) won the Surana and Surana North India Rounds of the 51st Philip C. Jessup International law Moot Court Competition, 2010 held at RMLNLU, Lucknow in January, 2010 and qualified for the International World Championship Rounds to be held in Washington DC, USA in March, 2010.
  • Puloma Mukherjee ('013), SNS Shastry ('013) and Piyush Singh ('013) won the Kerala Law Academy (KLA) Moot Court Competition organized by Kerala Law Academy in February, 2010.
  • Debapratim Ray ('012), Aritra Roy ('013) and Aparupa Saha ('011) won the 1st Annual GNLU International Moot Court Competition, 2009 organized by Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar. Aritra Roy also bagged the 'Best Finalist Speaker' award.
  • Tarumoy Chaudhuri ('012), Anindita Mitra ('011) and Shreya Mukherjee ('012) won the 11th SC Javali Memorial Moot Court Competition, 2009 organised by UCL, Dharwad.
  • Snigdhaneel Satpathy ('011), Arjun Pall ('012) and Puloma Mukherjee ('012) won the Surana & Surana Corporate Law Moot, 2009 organised by AIL Mohali.
  • Bharti Lamba ('010), Kumar Vaibhav ('010) and Manu Sanan ('011) won the MS Ramiah Memorial Moot Court Competition, 2009
  • Akansha Dubey, Vijaya Sharma and Nitin Kaushal won the 1st Deep Chand Memorial Moot Court Competition, 2009 organised by Punjab University, Chandigarh.

  • Nayanthika Ramakrishanan (’12), Lagna Panda (’12), Deepa Rekha (’12) and Prateek Bhattacharya (’12) were awarded “Best Memorandum Overall” and “Best Claimant’s Memorandum” at the ELSA WTO Moot Court Competition, 2011.
  • Arvind Lakhawat (’08), Anand Varma (’08) & Raghav Sharma (’09) won “Best Memorial” at the Commonwealth (South Asian Region) Moot Court Competition 2005. 
  • Reshma Khan (’08), Riddhi Sancheti (’09), Anil Raj (’07), Kunal Mehta (’08) & Gaurav Solanki (’07) were awarded “Second Best Memorial” at the 2 nd Sussan J. Ferrell Intercultural Human Rights Moot Court Competition, 2007 organised by the St. Thomas University, Miami (USA.)
  • Rahul Bhandari ('010), Priyasha Corrie ('010), Shikha Parakh ('010), Sivaramakrishnan M.S. ('010) and Gautam Agarwal ('010) were awarded "Honourable Mention" for the Claimant Memoranda at the prestigious Willem C. Vis (East) International Commercial Arbitration Moot, Hong Kong, 2009.
  • Pranay Bagdi ('012), Pranav Atit ('012), Meherunnisa Anand ('012), Aditi Patanjali ('011) and Nishant Kumar ('011) received awards for the third best respondent memorial and the fourth best claimant memorial at the Queensland Maritime Arbitration Moot held at Brisbane, Australia in July, 2009.

  • Monika Singh (’13), Satyam Thareja (’12) and Ishita Das (’14) were awarded the “Best Memorial” at the Surana Trial Advocacy Moot (North India Rounds) 2011 held at University Institute of Legal Studies, Punjab University, Chandigarh in September 2011.
  • Manu Thadikkaran (’13), Aayushi Sharma (’12) and Neha Reddy (’13) were awarded the “Best Memorial” at the 2010 Oxford-India Media Law Moot Court Competition organized by the University of Oxford, UK in collaboration with NUJS, Kolkata and NLU, Delhi in December 2010.
  • Meherunissa Anand (’12), Shreya Garg (’14) and Anish Agarwal (’12) were awarded the “Best Memorandum” at the NUJS Herbert Smith National Corporate Law Moot Court Competition, 2011.
  • Aparna Gaur (’14) was awarded “Best Researcher” at the Amity Moot Court Competition, in March 2011.
  • Abir Roy (’07) and Brisketu Saran Pandey (’07) were awarded “Best Researcher” at Kalinda 2003, a Moot Court Competition organised by Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies, Bangalore.

  • Avi Tandon ('012), Tarumoy Chaudhuri ('012) and Ishaan Chhaya ('012) were awarded "Best Memorial" at the 2nd Annual NALSAR Justice BR Sawhney Memorial Moot Court Competition, 2009.
  • Manu Thadikkaran ('013), Pritha Chatterjee ('012) and Vinati Gupta ('010) were awarded "Best Memorial" at the 3rd National IP Moot Court Competition, 2009 organised by Institute of Intellectual Property Studies, NMIMS University, Mumbai.

  • Riddhi Sancheti (’09) was awarded “Second Best Speaker” at the Sussan J. Ferrell Intercultural Human Rights Moot Court Competition, 2007 organised by the St. Thomas University, Miami (USA.) 
  • Bhuvnesh Satija ('011) and Vidya Chandrasekhar ('011) were both awarded "Honourable Mention as a Speaker" at the Frankfurt International Investment Law Arbitration Moot held at Frankfurt, Germany in October, 2009.
